Religious identity in university students. First report on the religious identity of first years students, entrance 2009, of the Universidad Católica del Norte Abstract In this study, we analyze data collected through the application of a survey provided by the Catholic University of Chile, used for a similar study by the School of Psychology and the Faculty of Theology at that institution. This consists of 86 Likert items in 9 dimensions: Interest and use of leisure time, social and political attitudes, beliefs and meaning, religious identity, religious practices, history of beliefs, attitudes toward religious and nonreligious groups, university’s formation, Background. The instrument was applied to 100% of students admitted to first year of the 2009 in the Universidad Católica del Norte (Antofagasta). The results were worked by a multivariate descriptive analysis, in order to build the profile of religious identity in terms of major practices, beliefs and socio-cultural variables of the students surveyed. We show here the results.
